An electric reclining chair, which will provide a much needed facility for parents to stay overnight with their children at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, has been donated by Property for Kids.
Chris Read handed over the cheque for £1202.00 to Consultant Cardiologist Dr Oliver Stumper. The new chair will be used in Ward 12 of the High Dependency Unit specialising in cardiac care, where space is limited to accommodate a bed next to the patients to enable parents to stay with their children after major surgery.
Fiona Newby, whose daughter Hannah was recently in Ward 12 believes understands the need for the chair.
“When your child has just come out of ICU you want to be with them and this new chair will enable children to be supported by their parents day and night. It really is worth its weight in gold and has been very well received by the hospital and other parents.”
